strangers, love, and fog

intimacy | anonymity

Enter a thick fog, downtown New Orleans— My subjects and I are granted invisibility and anonymity as we move about the city. This reciprocal anonymity quells the conflict between my fascination with the documentarian candor of street photography, my own ethics on autonomy over one’s image, and my ego-fear of being “caught” shooting. The anonymity of these silhouettes yielding from dense evening fog and bright city lights, creates an unexpected intimacy. Defining features withheld, viewers can project themselves onto the subjects, sharing in joy, loneliness, and the egress between as their own.
