Space, Release is the third movement of my choral suite COLOR ALL MAPS NEW. The larger piece is about climate change, specifically coastal erosion in the southeastern U.S. Space, Release is about a parent teaching their son to throw a ball "into space." The piece juxtaposes a teenager's impatience and excitement towards getting older, with a parent's knowledge that time isn't something we can get back.
